The History

In 1893, Ernest and Charles Tiedtke opened a small grocery store in Toledo, Ohio. By 1910, Tiedtke’s was arguably the most popular department store in the region, if not the country. One of the most memorable attractions was Tiedtke’s coffee, roasted in giant red roasters right in the middle of the store. The aroma permeated each department, drawing shoppers to the rich taste of coffee from the roasted beans. During peak times, customers enjoyed almost 1,000 cups of Tiedtke’s coffee a day.

Today, still roasted in Toledo, Ohio, Tiedtke’s Coffee offers the same full-bodied flavor of traditions past. We believe we’ve captured the taste and aroma of a tradition unlike any other, and we’re confident you’ll enjoy every cup of this Toledo classic.
